"What can Clipdrop do?"
"I have an image of it being a service that easily generates images, but I want to know what it's really like."
If that sounds like you, you're not alone! Many people are curious about Clipdrop.
This article will give you an overview of Clipdrop, what it can do, and how to use it easily.
What is Clipdrop?
Clipdrop is an AI-powered image generation tool provided by Stability AI.
It not only offers Text-to-Image capabilities but also allows you to specify negative prompts for higher quality image generation. Plus, many of its other editing features are available for free.
The fact that it uses Stable Diffusion as its underlying AI model has garnered significant attention recently.
If you're wondering what Stable Diffusion is, check out this article for more information.
Features of Clipdrop
Next, let's discuss the features of Clipdrop.
Available on Smartphones and PCs
First, Clipdrop is available on both smartphones and PCs.
While many other AI image generation tools are only available on the web, Clipdrop has dedicated applications for both iOS and Android.
This means that even if you don't use a PC often, you can download the Clipdrop app on your smartphone and try generating images.
Extensive Editing Features
Second, Clipdrop is packed with editing features.
You can convert generated images to higher resolutions, freely set backgrounds, and access a wealth of other editing options.
By leveraging these features, you can create images that are closer to your ideal vision.
Japanese Prompt Input Supported
Third, you can input prompts in Japanese.
Here's an example of an image generated by inputting "soccer ball" as a prompt:

Many image generation tools require prompts to be in English, but Clipdrop works perfectly fine with Japanese, making it very easy and accessible to use.
The UI is also available in Japanese, so anyone can give it a try.
What You Can Do with Clipdrop
Let's take a closer look at what you can specifically do with Clipdrop.
There are 11 editing features in total, including minor ones, so I'll give you a quick overview of each.

Stable Diffusion XL: Image Generation Using Stable Diffusion (Text to Image)
First up is image generation with Stable Diffusion XL.
This is the feature that most people think of when they hear "AI image generation," allowing you to generate images from text (prompts).
Enter your prompt in the text input space shown in the attached image and press the "Generate" button to create your image.

Pressing the button to the left of the "Generate" button lets you specify the "Style" of the generated image or indicate what you *don't* want to be included in the image with "Negative prompt." (For example, entering "Low quality" in the Negative prompt reduces the probability of generating a low-quality image.)

Uncrop: Guess and Generate New Image Beyond the Borders
Next is the Uncrop feature.
The AI guesses the space outside the image boundaries and generates a new image.
Here's an image generated with Uncrop:

The image on the left was the original, but I wanted to generate a larger image, so I specified the desired size and regenerated it, resulting in the image on the right.
The AI has intelligently guessed and generated an appropriate additional image, even for the previously blank space.
This allows you to generate images that take into account detailed aspects such as the scale and composition ratio of the generated image.
Reimagine XL: Regenerate Another Variation of the Image (Image to Image)
Next is the Reimagine XL feature.
This allows for Image to Image, regenerating a different variation of an image based on the input image data.

This is an image from an actual simulation.
The image on the left was uploaded, and the image on the right was regenerated from it.
You can regenerate multiple times until you get an image that is close to your ideal.
Stable Doodle: Output Hand-Drawn Illustrations as Images
The fourth feature is Stable Doodle.
This feature allows you to generate images based on your own illustrations, guided by the content specified in the prompt.

Here's an image I actually used.
The image in the upper left is the illustration I created, and "Donuts" at the bottom of the screen is the prompt I specified.
Even though it was a rough illustration, it accurately reflects the content of the prompt and turns it into an image.
I think this is a very attractive feature for people in professions like illustrators.
Clean Up: Delete Specified Images from Input Image Data
The fifth feature is the Clean up function.
This feature allows you to upload an image and delete any image by specifying a part of it.

The image on the left was uploaded, and the mountain in one of the red frames was specified and deleted, resulting in the image on the right.
Rather than erasing everything in the specified range, the background is left as is, and the image is generated in such a way that it is as natural as possible.
Remove Background: Remove the Background of an Uploaded Image File
The sixth feature is the Remove Background function.
This feature refers to the uploaded image file and removes its background.

The background was neatly removed.
Unlike the Clean up feature, you simply upload the image data, and the AI automatically recognizes and deletes the background, and you can download the regenerated image, making it very simple to operate.
Relight: Adjust the Position of Light and the Degree of Color
The seventh feature is the Relight function.
In a nutshell, it is a dimming function for uploaded images.
Here's what I actually generated:

It's the same image, but I feel like it has become a more nostalgic image.
Image Upscaler: Convert Images to Higher Quality
The eighth feature is the Image upscaler function.
This feature allows you to regenerate images with higher resolutions or as larger images.
With the paid version, you can further improve the quality.
Replace Background: Regenerate Backgrounds (Paid Version)
The ninth feature is the Replace background function.
As the name suggests, this feature allows you to regenerate an image by reflecting the content specified in the prompt on the background.
This feature can only be tried with the paid version, but you can try this Replace background feature for free with our Fotographer AI. For details, please see here.
Text Remover: Remove Text Information Appearing in Images
The 10th feature is the Text remover function.
You can delete text images in uploaded images.

It seems that not everything can be deleted depending on the uploaded image, but by combining it with the Clean up function, etc., it seems that text images can be deleted more efficiently and reliably.
Sky Replacer: Regenerate Images by Specifying Sky Colors
The last feature I'm going to introduce is the Sky replacer function.
This feature allows the AI to automatically recognize the background portion of an uploaded image and regenerate the image by selecting an arbitrary sky image.

I tried specifying a blue sky.
There is something like a scroll bar, and it is of course possible to repaint everything, but it is also possible to reflect it partially.
How to Use Clipdrop (PC Version)
So far, I have described what Clipdrop can do while using the actual screen, but in this chapter, I will explain what is needed to use Clipdrop.
This article is for the PC version, but how to use the smartphone app will be described in another article. I will post it as soon as it is created, so if you are interested, please check it out as well.
Steps to Use
I will briefly describe the steps to use Clipdrop,
STEP1: Search for "Clipdrop" on the Web and access the service provision page
STEP2: Click the button on the upper right of the Clipdrop page to create an account or log in using another SNS account, etc.

STEP3: Select the function you want to use and use it

These are the only 3 STEPs.
It's very easy to understand and requires little effort, so please try it out.
Clipdrop Pricing
Basically, almost all functions can be used for free, but there are some differences between the free and paid versions, such as the Replace background function can only be used for a fee. I will introduce each of them below.
Free Version: Up to 100 Images Can Be Generated Per Day
The first is that the number of images that can be generated per day is limited to 100.
Since 4 images are often generated per session, this means you can use it 25 times a day with a simple calculation.
On the other hand, the paid version allows you to use up to 1,000 images/day, so if you are going to use Clipdrop in earnest, you may want to consider it.
Free Version: There Are Restrictions on the Image Sizes That Can Be Used
The second is that there are restrictions on the image sizes that can be used.
With the free version, you can only use images up to 1024 x 1024, and if you exceed that, the size will be forcibly reduced, and the generative AI will reflect that image.
With the paid plan, you can use unlimited sizes.
Free Version: There Are Restrictions on the Functions That Can Be Used
The third point is that there are restrictions on the functions that can be used in the free version.
Specifically, the following two points:
-Replace background cannot be used
-You can generate images with Reimagine XL, but you cannot download them
If you want to use these functions to the fullest, you need to purchase the paid version.
Paid Version Price
Currently, Clipdrop has three plans.
-Free version
-Pro version: The price as of September 30, 2023.
Monthly payment: Approximately $13.74/month
Payment for annual contract: Approximately $9.52/month
-API version: Individual quotation
Summary
In this article, I introduced the outline and simple functions.
If you are someone who wants to try using image generation AI, as well as those who are considering using it for work, please give it a try.
If you want to know more specific usage methods or how to use the smartphone app, we are currently creating another article. I will post it as soon as it is created, so if you are interested, please check it out as well.
